A message from Todd Fowler, President of GATE117
Who we are
Gate117 is a faith-based, nonprofit organization headquartered in Arizona. For over sixteen years we’ve worked tirelessly to improve the lives of society’s most vulnerable. In 2025 we are refining our mission to focus on gaps in the foster care system.
Our philosophy is beautifully simple: Every young person deserves the opportunity to thrive and flourish. But as we all know, the transition into adulthood can be both difficult and discouraging. Even more so for these kids who often approach adulthood without the basic skills, training, and support to survive, much less thrive. This means that more than half the kids who age out of the foster system end up homeless. You read that correctly.
Gate117 gives them hope and a fighting chance by providing resources, direction, and mentorship to develop practical, marketable skills. Skills that are in high demand in today’s job market. Our vision is a world where every foster child receives the support they need to grow into a productive and successful adult, and where “aging out of care” is no longer a barrier to achieving personal success and a sense of belonging.
A FAMILY AND A FUTURE
The expression A Family And A Future is more than a slogan; it’s our guiding principle. Everything we do at Gate117 is with this core value in mind. It’s not easy work, but we are blessed to partner with some of the most innovative thinkers and organizations, allowing us to address both the symptoms and the root of the problems that plague the foster care system.
Gate117 is working to transform the lives of foster youth in real and tangible ways, by creating pathways to adoption and providing vocational training in the skilled trades. At the same time we recognize that the challenges faced by foster youth are multifaceted, requiring comprehensive solutions. So in addition to facilitating adoption and vocational training, we are committed to providing holistic support that addresses the emotional, educational, and social needs of these young individuals.
By collaborating with a network of dedicated professionals and volunteers, we create a structured pathway where foster youth can thrive and build a successful and independent future.
